A large grass fire closed down parts of Highway 123 in Osage County, Oklahoma. Strong south winds quickly whipped fires out of control and extremely dry grass caught flame very quickly. Crews employed back burns to try to combat the fires.

In other parts of Oklahoma enormous wildfires have burned over 100,000 acres with large wildfires burning in Woodward, Dewey, Roger Mills and Harmon Counties.

Evacuations are ongoing for parts of the city of Woodward. Smoke plumes could be seen as far east as Tulsa with extreme winds carrying the smoke.
