Cowboys top Florida Gulf Coast, advance in NIT

The Oklahoma State Cowboys are moving on in the National Invitational Tournament.

OSU (20-14) rolled through its' first-round matchup with Florida Gulf Coast (23-12), topping the Eagles 80-68.

Jeffrey Carroll led the way for the Cowboys with 18 points, including hitting 12 of 13 shots from the free throw line. Carroll also added eight rebounds and three steals. Both Mitchell Solomon and Tavarius Shine added 13 points and Lindy Waters tacked on 10 in the win.

OSU shot just 35 percent (21-59) from the field Tuesday night.

FGSU got 23 points from guard Zach Johnson in the loss.

Two-seed Oklahoma State will host the winner of the Stanford-BYU game slated for Wednesday.
