Pennsylvania: Wandering emu finally captured
Friday morning in Wayne County, Pennsylvania - drivers found an emu right in the middle of the highway.
For the better part of a week, the five-foot flightless bird had been wandering the area.
Brian Fulp, director of the Himalayan Institute, said he thinks the emu's original owner sold the bird - and then it got loose.
One rescue and capture attempt saw the bird get away when volunteers tried to corral it into a trailer.
Late Friday afternoon however, the emu was shot with a tranquilizer - caught and taken to an area animal park.
