New York: Queens fire damages shops
Twelve people were injured Thursday after a five-alarm fire consumed several buildings in New York City.
It happened in the Sunnyside neighborhood of Queens.
The fire broke out inside a store just after two a. m. and spread quickly to engulf six stores, one of which partially collapsed.
Six families were evacuated from a nearby building.
Seven firefighters and five civilians were injured.
Most of the injuries were minor.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
