A big mess in the Tampa area -- after powerful storms -- including a tornado -- moved through central Florida Friday.

The storms ripped up trees, tore roofs off buildings and scattered debris and winds of up to 66 miles an hour knocked out power to at least 50,000 homes and businesses.

The National Weather Service reported a tornado touched down in New Port Richey and confirms seven homes were damaged.
