YALE- (KOKH) — School officials, residents and law enforcement remain tight lipped after a recent incident happened at Yale High School, where some parents allege a school resource officer pointed a taser at students in a classroom.
On Friday, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation confirmed to FOX 25 that it is investigating an incident of possible misconduct that happened last week at the high school, but couldn’t give any other details.
FOX 25 spoke to Rocky Kennedy, Superintendent of Yale Public Schools, who said that an incident did happen involving a school resource officer, but could not provide any further details either.
Facebook posts made by parents of students at the high school allege the officer pointed a taser at a class full of junior English students.
One parent said the officer’s taser light even beamed off a student’s chest.
It’s unclear what the events were that led up to the incident, but in a statement Superintendent Kennedy sent to FOX 25, he said no one was injured, but that the issue is being investigated.
He added that the Oklahoma State Department of Education has been notified of the incident and that the officer is on administrative leave while the investigation plays out.
"The safety of our students is our top priority and steps are being taken to ensure that remains our top priority," he said.
FOX 25 also reached out to the parents who made those posts on Facebook, but did not hear back.
We’ll keep you updated with more details as they become available.
