One dies after crash between truck, coach bus in McClain County
GOLDSBY, Okla. (KOKH) —
One person died following a crash between a pickup and a coach bus early Wednesday in McClain County.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol confirms that at approximately 1 a.m. Sept. 19 a 2003 GMC Sierra driven by 25-year-old Ace Hawkins, of Newcastle, was traveling at a high rate of speed on northbound I-35 south of Goldsby when he lost control of the vehicle.
The truck struck a northbound coach bus from behind and then departed the roadway and striking a cable barrier. The truck caught fire following the crash. A McClain County deputy pulled Hawkins from the vehicle, who was pronounced dead on the scene.
The coach bus contained 16 passengers and one driver. No one was injured on the bus.
