Winter Weather Advisory called as ice forecast for southern Oklahoma

(Marcy Novak/KOKH)

Freezing drizzle and freezing rain will move in after Noon Tuesday and will last through the evening. There is a Winter Weather Advisory from 3 PM until Midnight for southern Oklahoma.

The highest chance for freezing rain will be south of the Oklahoma City Metro. Accumulation totals will be low, but enough to cause some travel problems.

Even though highest amounts will be south of the Metro, there is a chance for freezing drizzle across Oklahoma City and surrounding areas during the afternoon and evening. It won't take much to cause slick roads, so it's a good idea to prepare for tricky travel after Noon today through the evening rush hour. Go slow and allow for a lot of extra time if you have to be out on the roads this afternoon and evening. Temperatures will stay just below freezing all day.

Dry tonight through Wednesday morning, but icy spots may linger on some roads for the Wednesday morning commute.
