VIDEO: Man leaves behind fake explosive device during armed robbery

Police hope to identify a man who placed what appeared to be an explosive device at a business during an armed robbery.

The Oklahoma City Police Department has released surveillance video from 1:41 p.m. Feb. 10 that shows a man entering Supermercado El Rodeo, 1344 SW 59 Street, and approach the counter.

When a clerk comes to assist the man, he can be seen pulling a gun from his pants and demanding money. The man then places what appeared to be an explosive device on the counter.

After receiving money, the man fled the store to a blue Toyota. The vehicle left the area eastbound.

The Oklahoma City Police Department bomb squad was called to the business to clear the device. It was later found to be safe.

Anyone with information on the man is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 405-235-7300.
