WASHINGTON D.C. — A United States Senator has joined an ethics complaint against former Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt.
Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, D-Rhode Island, has joined a complaint filed March 21 to the Oklahoma Bar Association against Pruitt. The complaint states that Pruitt violated Oklahoma's rules of professional conduct while stating he did not use a personal email address to conduct business while Attorney General of Oklahoma. A FOX 25 investigation revealed that Pruitt in fact did use a personal email address to conduct state business.
Whitehouse says that he has had a "front-row seat" for Pruitt's "misleading testimony" during hearings prior to Pruitt's confirmation as Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency.
"His misleading answers, evasiveness, and stonewalling initially stymied our committee's ability to adequately discharge our advice and consent responsibilities and presently stymie its ability to conduct effective oversight of Mr. Pruitt and EPA," Whitehouse said.
Whitehouse also stated that this conduct is "unbecoming of an attorney who is also a public official".
