OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH) — Police have arrested a third teenager in connection to a fatal shooting outside a metro apartment complex.
The Oklahoma City Police Department reports that 16-year-old Shakil Greer has been taken into custody in connection to the June 29 murder of Shomari Parks.
A 17-year-old and 18-year-old Shamar Greer have also been arrested in connection to the case.
Court records show that a witness spoke with police after having a conversation with the 17-year-old. The 17-year-old allegedly stated he was purchasing marijuana from Parks when he stated he knew two guys that would also like to purchase weed.
The 17-year-old allegedly observed Shakil and Shamar attempt to rob Parks and eventually shoot him. The Oklahoma County District Attorney has declined to press murder charges on the 17-year-old despite the fact he was initially arrested for first degree murder. He faces a complaint of conspiracy to distribute a controlled dangerous substance. He has since bonded out of custody.
Parks' death is considered the 35 homicide of 2017 in Oklahoma City.
