Sheriff's office warns about IRS scam
The Kiowa County Sheriff’s Office is warning everyone about another scam going around.
Police say scammers are mailing letters to resident that appear to be from the IRS. The letter appears official and will have personal information on them. Only the Social Security Number and the date of birth will be wrong. The scammers want you to call them to correct the information.
Police say you should confirm all phone numbers and addresses from a different source before you give your information over the phone.
If you are unsure about giving your information on the phone, you can call your local sheriff office. Police can assist in confirming the addresses and phone numbers.
