Service Oklahoma is in the process of making some changes, hoping to ease the burden of trying to get a new license or ID in the state.

Hundreds of Oklahomans come to Service Oklahoma daily, many of them needing some sort of ID or Driver's License but are forced to wait. Soon Service Oklahoma will implement a new system to help make this process easier.

Oklahomans line up outside of Service Oklahoma hours before it opens daily, hoping they get the chance to be seen, because of this many people are forced to take off work to try and possibly get a new ID.

Officials with Service Oklahoma say they are working on some changes that will hopefully eliminate the hassle and long lines.

In a statement to Fox 25, they say they are working closely with their licensed operator partners to expand capacity for driver license services across the state.

Service Oklahoma says they are also seeking proposals for a full replacement of the state's driver license system, they say, "A new system will better align Service Oklahoma's business practices and technology needs, automate processes, and meet the demands of the driver license system of record."

They say they hope to have a vendor selected by the first of the new year, and once selected, they anticipate the new system will be implemented statewide within 12 to 18 months.

But, starting this month, many licensed operators in Oklahoma can perform original issuance of driver licenses and out-of-state driver license transfers, giving Oklahomans more options to get the services they need.

They say by the end of the year, all 240+ licensed operators will be able to perform these services.

Below is the full statement sent from Service Oklahoma to Fox 25:

Service Oklahoma is working closely with our licensed operator partners to expand capacity for driver license services across the state. Starting this month, more than half of the licensed operators in the state can now perform original issuances of driver licenses and out-of-state driver license transfers. By the end of the year, all 240+ licensed operators will be able to perform these services. While we work to leverage our partnerships to increase capacity, Service Oklahoma is also seeking proposals for a full replacement of the state’s driver license system. A new system will better align Service Oklahoma’s business practices and technology needs, automate processes, and meet the demands of the driver license system of record. We are working through the state procurement process and hope to have a vendor selected by the first of the year. Once selected, we anticipate the new driver license system to be implemented across the state within 12-18 months.
