A teenager is expected to survive after being struck by a vehicle Friday in southwest Oklahoma City.

The Oklahoma City Police Department reports that SW 134 and Western was shut down just before 9:30 a.m. Friday after what they called a "serious injury accident". Police later confirmed that a 17-year-old was walking along Western when for some unknown reason he stepped into the roadway and was struck by an SUV.

The teen was transported to a local hospital where he is expected to survive. Police say the driver of the SUV was interviewed on scene and they are not expected to be charged.
