NORMAN, Okla. (KOKH) - Oklahoma City police say they believe they've found the dead body of a missing Norman 7-month-old.

At 8 a.m. Thursday, officials announced they'd discovered the body of "who is believed to be Jody Minjarez", the baby who's been missing from Norman since Feb. 19. The body was found at a residence in the 3000 block of Venice Blvd. in Oklahoma City. Police officials say the medical examiner will determine the exact identity of the body found.

The boy's father, 31-year-old Victor Minjarez, was taken into custody by police at the same address Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Norman Police Department, their investigation began on Feb. 19 when officers were called to a domestic assault in the 1500 block of Lakecrest Drive. Officers say Victor Minjarez had violently attacked the mother of his child and fled the home with their son, Jody Minjarez. The woman obtained a Victim Protective Order against Victor Minjarez on Feb. 23 that ordered the baby to be returned to her, but he did not comply.

Recently, police say Victor Minjarez sent a message to a friend stating that the woman would never see Jody Minjarez again. Based on those text messages, police notified the media on Tuesday of the missing and endangered infant.

Early Wednesday, an Amber Alert was issued for the child.

Victor Minjarez was booked into the Oklahoma County jail Wednesday evening on first-degree murder and desecrating a human corpse charges. He's being held without bail.

Jody Minjarez's death is being considered Oklahoma City's 15th homicide of 2018. Norman police say OKCPD will take over the investigation.
