A woman is fighting for her life after being stabbed multiple times in Midwest City.

Police say they were called to the OnCue in the 1600 block of S. Air Depot around 6:30 p.m. July 10. When officers arrived, they reportedly found 36-year-old Randall Arlandus Cornelius actively stabbing a woman in the gas station parking lot.

The officer held Cornelius at gunpoint until backup arrived. Midwest City Police Department Chief Brandon Clabes says the victim, 40-year-old Tinisha Buitron, was transported to an Oklahoma City hospital in critical condition with stab wounds to her upper chest and torso. Witnesses told police that Cornelius began stabbing the woman inside the store and the attack continued out into the parking lot.

“Had it not been for the quick actions of Sergeant Brown and the fact he was on scene when the brutal attack was still happening, this most likely would have been a homicide.” Clabes said. “We learned the victim and suspect have been in a past relationship and this undermines the epidemic of domestic violence. If you know someone in a violent relationship or you are that person, seek help and assistance so that you don’t become another statistic."

Cornelius will be booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on multiple complaints.
