Police: Man threatens to blow up home after woman asks him for cigarette

A man was arrested after police say he threatened to blow up a home after a woman asked him for a cigarette.

The Oklahoma City Police Department reports that Jerry Dale Gilbert, 52, was arrested Sept. 17 on complaints of threatening to perform an act of violence and making a bomb threat.

Just after 10 a.m. that day police were called to the 900 block of Greenvale Road. The female victim told police that she and Gilbert had gotten into a verbal argument after she asked him for a cigarette.

During the argument, Gilbert allegedly stated he was going to take a match and use the woman's oxygen tank to blow up her home. A witness told police that they had seen Gilbert pacing around the home yelling that he was going to kill the woman.

The victim told police that two days prior to the incident she had gotten into an altercation with Gilbert after she turned off the air conditioning in her bedroom. During the argument, Gilbert allegedly attempting to hit the victim with a chair, but was stopped.

Gilbert was later arrested and booked into the Oklahoma County Jail.
