One man was taken into custody after attempting to break into a home with just four children inside.

The Oklahoma City Police Department reports that Stacy Cornelius Reece Jr. was arrested July 3 on a complaint of burglary in the first degree.

At approximately 10:30 p.m. July 3 police were notified by a woman that stated her 10-year-old son had called her and stated that a man was attempting to break into their house. Inside the home at the time were the boy and three girls ranging in age from 12 to 14-years old.

When police arrived at the home in the 300 block of NW 86 Street, they were met by a man who stated the suspect had ran off towards NW 83 and Harvey Place. Police chased the man, later identified as Reece, as he jumped through several backyards. He was eventually located and taken into custody.

Authorities spoke with the children, who stated that a teenage girl had been punched in the face by an unknown man down the street from the home and had walked to the house. When she came to the house, she was followed by an older man. The man and girl argued in front of the house, before the girl went inside.

A short time later, the children heard someone beating on the door. When the door was cracked, the man rushed it and attempted to gain access to the home. All the kids were able to force it shut and lock it.

The man then fled the home after police were called, leading to the foot pursuit.
