Police: Man shot by bail bondsman while being taken into custody in Oklahoma City
OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH) —
A man was shot while being taken into custody by bail bondsmen Thursday in Oklahoma City.
The Oklahoma City Police Department confirms that just after 1:30 p.m. Nov. 1 officers were called to reports of a shooting at an apartment complex in the 7200 block of Melrose Lane.
On scene, police found 44-year-old Bobby Lee Piearcy suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to the hospital.
After speaking with witnesses, police learned that two bail bondsmen were at the complex attempting to pick up Piearcy on warrants. While Piearcy was being taken into custody one of the bail bondsmen discharged his weapon, striking the man.
The incident is currently under investigation. Piearcy was wanted on complaints of trafficking meth and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
