A longtime northwest Oklahoma resident was honored with a horseback funeral procession.

The family of Bernard Landon Nine fulfilled the 94-year-old's wishes and gave him a funeral procession on horse back following his Jan. 2 death. Nine is described as a "steadfast pillar" of the Slapout, Oklahoma community.

Family, friends and community members took to horse back to follow a wagon carrying Nine to his final resting place. The procession was lead by an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper.

Nine's grandson Landon led a riderless horse behind the wagon. The man's final resting place was adjacent to his boyhood home.

Nine leaves behind his wife of nearly 70 years.
