Oklahomans chip in to help soldiers stranded at Will Rogers Airport
OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH) —
Oklahoma's winter storm caused few delays at Will Rogers World Airport, but hundreds of soldiers were stranded and waiting on a ride back to base.
Nearly 700 soldiers returning to Fort Sill after the holidays apent the night trying to catch some shut eye on hard floors.
One way to cheer them up, some goodwill from the Sooner State.
"It's the Oklahoma standard to make sure people have a good experience here in Oklahoma City especially people like our us army soldiers," said Mayor David Holt.
Families, restaurants and businesses showed up with more than the troops could eat.
Drill sergeants were telling troops to enjoy it while it lasts, because PT starts Monday.
