OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH)--According to 24/7 Wall St., Oklahoma has the fifth fewest doctors, according to a primary care doctor to population ratio.
To get these numbers, 24/7 reviewed data on primary care physicians from the 2020 County Health Rankings & Roadmaps, a collaboration between the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute.
According to their study, Oklahoma has one primary care doctor to every 1,616 people in the state.
According to the Association of American Medical Colleges, medical institutions have warned that there could be a shortage of up to 120,000 medical professionals by 2030 nationwide.
