Homicide investigation opened after body found at metro motel

Oklahoma City police are investigating the discovery of a body in a motel room as a homicide.

Police say around 2:30 a.m. Monday, officers responded to a check welfare call at the Oxford Inn in the 5300 block of N. Lincoln. Responding police discovered 31-year-old Brooklyn BreYanna Stevenson dead inside the room.

Investigators say Stevenson had injuries consistent with homicide.

The Stevenson family released the following statement to FOX 25: “We are heartbroken. Brooklyn BreYanna was an amazing daughter, sister and friend with a giving and loving heart. We pray that those who committed this heinous crime will be identified and Brooklyn will receive justice.”

The death is considered Oklahoma City's 80th homicide of 2017.
