
Oklahoma City Tax Help wants to lend a hand so residents can claim hard earned money this tax season.
OKC tax help launched a campaign for a multilingual awareness initiative to equip Oklahomans with accessible tax education and resources to help them understand how the credit works, how to claim it, and where to access free preparation services.
The Earned Income Tax Credit or EITC is a federal tax credit for households earning $56,000 or less.
In 2019 the average OKC credit was more than $2,500.
They said the 2020 tax year will present unique questions and assessments, such as how to file on unemployment dollars, what to do with stimulus payments and how to make recent tax laws like the “look back” provision work for their family.
The organization says helping Oklahomans claim federal EITC could prevent eviction, help feed families or halt a financial crisis.
“In the minority communities, the cultural communities, a lot of the times we’re not aware of the information and I just don’t want our communities to miss out,” said Oklahoma City Tax Help spokesperson, Thuan Nguyen.
February 2nd, filers can begin to access Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites in four locations across Oklahoma City,

OKC Tax Help will do this until April 15th.
Mayor David holt even made a proclamation to officially designate January 29th and Earned Income Tax Credit Awareness Day.
