OHP: Man drowns in Lake Eufaula while trying to catch drifting boat
PITTSBURG COUNTY, Okla. (KTUL) —
A man is dead after a drowning in Pittsburg County.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says it happened around 8 p.m. Wednesday on Lake Eufaula. James Cosper, 66, was reportedly loading his boat at a ramp when the boat drifted away, so the man ran down the shore line to a dock, jumped in the water and swam toward it.
A witness told investigators that the man started to struggle before he went underwater and never resurfaced.
Investigators say Cosper's body was located about 25 yards north of the shore line.
