MOORE, OKLA. (KOKH) — Millions of people are without power in Texas after Beryl and Oklahomans are heading south to help.
A fleet of OG&E crews in Moore started the trip to southern Texas to help restore power Wednesday morning.
Some utility companies in Texas said the damage from Beryl was more severe than they anticipated after the storm changed paths and hit areas like Houston.
Now OG&E crew members will spend about two weeks in Texas helping communities get power back.
Beryl slammed into southern Texas as a category 1 on Monday.
It knocked out power to more than 2.5 million homes, caused severe flooding and at least eight people died in Texas and Louisiana.
More than 30 utility companies in Texas are experiencing outages, which is where OG&E is going to help.
The fleet includes more than 100 OG&E employees who will spend at least 14 days there to help run lines, get new poles in the ground, and whatever else Texas needs.
Not only is there damage and debris left over, but the Texas heat is going to be rough.
This week the heat index has been over 100 degrees and temperatures won't likely drop into the 90s until next week.
