Norman police arrest woman involved in fatal crash on Flood Avenue

Norman police have arrested a woman for a manslaughter in the first degree complaint following a fatality collision on Flood Avenue.

Nicole Chavez, 43, was taken into custody, Thursday, after she allegedly drove southbound in a northbound lane and struck another vehicle.

Danielle Bamford, a 23-year-old Norman native, was driving the car that collided with Chavez.

Police say both women were transported to a local hospital, but Bamford died as a result of her injuries she sustained in the collision.

Police say Chavez was released from the hospital and transported to F. DeWayne Beggs Detention Center.

The collision remains under investigation by the Norman Police/OUPD Collision Investigation Reconstruction Team, according to a press release.
