Kellyville changes town's name to 'Somewhere' in honor of local country artist's success
SOMEWHERE, Okla. (KTUL) -- If you drive through Kellyville you might notice its name has changed, at least temporarily.
The town is honoring a country singer whose new song is making its way up the charts. James Webb is a country artist from Kellyville, Oklahoma.
“This is something so big I didn’t think I could have dreamed about this, I'd say it was a dream come true," said Webb.
The town is changing their name, only for a day, to Somewhere, Oklahoma.
Honoring Webb’s new single, "Now We’re Getting Somewhere."
“It’s hard to believe there wasn’t a Somewhere, Oklahoma, but now there is," said Webb.
Mayor Jim Vogt and Webb are making the change to the town’s sign along Route 66.
“I like to say we’re a small town with a big heart," said Vogt, showing the love for one of their own who’s making a name for himself in the country music scene.
“We believe he’s going to be a very successful singer and song writer; we’re very proud of him, and we’re doing this to show our support," said Vogt.
Webb played his new hit for us today, having performed the song around the country while finishing his album.
Webb says his song lyrics speak to the strength of small towns like Kellyville where everyone knows each other, and in a town like this, they really know how to show some love by inviting James to be a guest in today’s Homecoming parade.
An inspiration to the next generation, Webb hopes to have his album finished and released early next year.
