K-9 deputy tracks down kidnapping suspect in Cleveland County

Jamie Lee Thompson.

A man has been booked into Cleveland County jail for reportedly beating his own mother and holding her against her will.

Officers with the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office and a K-9 deputy responded to a domestic disturbance call in Lexington on Tuesday.

Police received a call about a son hitting his mother several times and holding her against her will. Police say the mother escaped twice before she was able to contact police.

Before police arrived, officials say Jamie Lee Thompson reportedly fled from the home and ran into a wooded area nearby.

An officer and the K-9 deputy tracked the suspect for a half mile before locating him.

This is the second time in a week that the K-9, named Hevey, was able to track a suspect and allow deputies to make an arrest without a bite or use of force.

Thompson has been booked into the Cleveland County Jail for kidnapping, domestic assault and battery by strangulation, domestic assault and preventing or disrupting an emergency phone call.
