Investigators still seeking motive in Luther school stabbing as victim recovers
LUTHER, Okla. (KOKH) —
An investigation into a stabbing at an Oklahoma school continues as the 14-year-old victim continues to recover in the hospital.
During a first day of school assembly at Luther High School, a 14-year-old male student attacked and stabbed a 14-year-old classmate multiple times. The student was subdued by teachers and the victim was taken by helicopter to an Oklahoma City hospital.
Luther Police Department Chief David Randall tells FOX 25 that they have turned in their report to the Oklahoma County District Attorney. The victim went through surgery on Thursday following the attack and is recovering in the hospital.
Randall and another officer were at the school for the second day of class checking bags as students arrived. The school is working to obtain a metal detector or school resource officer.
The motive behind the stabbing is still unknown. The Associated Press reports that the students were acquainted and that the boy "blurted out some statements that made no sense" before being taken into custody.
