Officials at the Oklahoma Department of Corrections have identified the inmate who was killed Friday at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary as Anthony Palma.

Anthony Palma was sentenced to life in prison without parole in November 2017. He was found guilty of first degree murder Oct. 13 2017, in connection to the 1997 disappearance of Kirsten Hatfield.

No body was ever recovered but DNA collected from Palma in 2015 matched a sample found on a pair of Hatfield's underwear found in the family's backyard and another sample from her bedroom. It was enough evidence for the jury, who took just over an hour to deliberate.

On Friday Palma was found unresponsive inside his cell he shared with another inmate. Officials say Palma's cellmate is believed to be responsible for his death.
