OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH) — Guthrie Public Schools says three of its young students are among those that died in a weekend house fire in Oklahoma City.
The district announced Pre-K student Paisley Evans, first grade student Bentley Evans and sixth grade student Carson Nyte all died in the fire early Sunday morning at the Quail Ridge Apartments. Their aunt, Melissa Evans, also died in the fire.
“Our hearts go out to the families that lost children in this tragedy," said Guthrie Superintendent Dr. Mike Simpson. "This is truly a sad day in Guthrie. Many of our students and staff will be affected and we pledge to provide the support necessary in this time of grieving.”
Oklahoma City fire crew arrived at the scene in the 13300 block of Plaza Terrace just before 3 a.m. Sunday.
The fire was so bad on arrival, crews immediately called out a third alarm.
One man survived by jumping from a second-floor window.
OKCFD reports eight apartments had fire damage and that about a dozen other units had smoke and/or water damage. Firefighters were unable to determine if smoke alarms were in use and the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
