Oklahoma City, Okla. (KOKH) — After more than a week of protests in Oklahoma City, one group says it will continue to gather outside police headquarters.
“Really what I want to see happen is our police violence decrease," said Sincere Terry.
Terry has emerged as one of the leaders of what she calls "the movement."
While the group stands with Black Lives Matter, they say "the movement" is separate.
“We’re very young, but we’re also very educated," Terry said. "Now that we know how things work and we’ve been growing up in this world for so long, we’ve seen it with our own eyes, we’ve heard the past stories and everything."
When asked what specifically needs to be done, they say they want to see certain police officers prosecuted for using deadly force.
Terry brought up the officer who shot and killed Isaiah Lewis in Edmond last year, an unarmed, naked 17-year-old who ran from police.
Both Edmond officers involved were cleared by Oklahoma County District Attorney David Prater and neither of them was charged.
The group says it was happy to hear from Mayor David Holt last week.
Now, they say they want to hear from both Oklahoma City Police Chief Wade Gourley and Governor Kevin Stitt.
Until then, the group plans to continue protesting.
“Every day until it’s changed," Terry said.
