Yukon High School. (KOKH/FILE)

Furloughed federal workers can apply for substitute teaching jobs at Yukon Public Schools during the government shutdown.

YPS said they will cover the costs for substitute training and background checks along with the certified substitute teaching rate pay for furloughed workers.

To become a substitute teacher YPS requires that you be at least 21-years-old, attend a scheduled substitute workshop, complete a background check, and complete all paperwork before entering YPS.

Special workshops for furloughed workers will be announced at a later date.

Current workshops are scheduled for Wed. Feb. 6 and Wed. March 6 from 9:30 to 11:00 AM.
