Firefighters putting out fire find man shot, stabbed and beaten in Pottawatomie County
POTTAWATOMIE COUNTY, Okla. (KOKH) —
A man is found shot, stabbed, and beaten after fire crews were called to a fire in southwest Pottawatomie County.
According to Sheriff Mike Booth, firefighters were putting out a fire near Pink when the victim came running from a vehicle set on fire.
"While they were on scene of this fire they saw a male that was bleeding, believed he had a gunshot wound to the leg, and was naked," Booth said.
The man told authorities he was taken from an Oklahoma City motel room where he was tied up and beaten. The victim said he was brought to the secluded area where he was shot and stabbed seven times. The vehicle he was in was set on fire.
According to the sheriff, the victim knew the three suspects.
"Someone owed someone some money and it had to do with this vehicle that was burned. It had to do with some property that was stolen," Booth said.
One suspect, Elijah Lambert was arrested by Pottawatomie County Sheriff's deputies on the scene. He was spotted by their drone.
"Our suspect did give up to the drone at one point put his hands in the air and then realized that maybe there wasn't anybody around so he ran back into the woods but that was easy enough we just followed him and was able to apprehend him," Booth said.
Another suspect, Chris Looper, was arrested in Oklahoma City. One other man is still at large. The victim is recovering at a local hospital.
