Oklahoma City Firefighters have knocked down a fire at the old Oklahoma City jail.

The fire started around 8:45 this evening at Robert S. Kerr and North Shartel.

OKCFD says the fire was on the 6th floor of the old jail. It was difficult for firefighters to fight the fire because of the physical labor of carrying the equipment up the stairs.

In a Twitter Live, OKCFD said there were computers, cameras and plastic in the room that caused heavy, nasty smoke for the firefighters.

An investigation is now underway to figure out what started the fire.
