Fire along the Oklahoma, New Mexico border has burned thousands of acres
KENTON, Okla. (KOKH) —
A fire burning on the Oklahoma and New Mexico state line has burned over 4,000 acres.
The Oklahoma Forestry Service says that the Porter Fire in Cimarron County has burned approximately 4,083 acres. The fire began over the weekend in an area along the New Mexico border just south of Kenton.
OFS reports it is currently 30 percent contained. Firefighters from OFS, Cimarron County, Texas County, the National Guard, New Mexico Forestry and Rabbit Ear Fire Department are working to control the fire.
