Stillwater High School was on shelter-in-place status after a report of an armed robbery at a nearby store on Monday.

Police say a clerk at the Pleasant Pool Supply told officers that a suspect had robbed her at gunpoint and fled from the store shortly before 3:30 p.m.

Police notified school officials about the robbery, and the school was temporarily locked down as a precaution while police searched the area.

Police say after investigating, officers found evidence that indicated the reported armed robbery was a false report. Police arrested the store clerk, 23-year-old Shanette Melana Stokes, for false reporting of a crime and embezzlement by an employee.
