Court documents: Suspect fatally stabbed man because 'he felt like it'

Brandon Newell, 18, was arrested Jan. 9 in Oklahoma City on a complaint of first degree murder. (Oklahoma County Jail)

Court records show that a suspect accused of fatally stabbing another man did it because 'he felt like it'.

Brandon Newell, 18, was arrested Jan. 9 in connection to the death of 24-year-old Isaac Herrera. Herrera was found dead early Jan. 9 in an apartment in the 7700 block of Lyrewood Lane with multiple stab wounds.

Witnesses reported seeing Newell covered in blood. He allegedly told the witnesses he was having oral sex with Herrera when he saw his knife laying nearby. He then grabbed the knife and allegedly stabbed the victim in the throat because "he felt like it".

When being interviewed by police, Newell allegedly said he didn't know why he did it and admitted to trying to cover up the scene of the murder.

Herrera's death is considered the 2nd homicide of 2018 in Oklahoma City.
