Cleveland County warns of phone scams
CLEVELAND COUNTY, Okla (KOKH) —
If you receive a call from 405-898-0365 Cleveland County Sheriff's Office doesn't want you to answer it.
Scammers are using that number to play a recording asking you to call the Sheriff's Office back at that number for an important legal matter like warrants for missing jury duty.
If you call that number it will prompt you to leave a message and the scammers will then call you back and ask for money saying you can pay to get out of your "warrant" or go to jail.
CCSO says they do NOT have an 898 prefix and do not return these calls.
They are asking that you spread the word, especially with vulnerable friends and family who might fall victim to the scam.
