OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH) - Thousands of census takers across the country began going door to door this month to assist people in responding to the 2020 Census.

According to the Census Bureau, an estimated 56 million in-person responses will need to be collected.

Oklahoma City has a current self-response rate of 63%, compared to the 2010 Census rate of 65.5%.

Tulsa has a current self-response rate of 61%, compared to the 2010 Census rate of 64.7%.

More than $675 billion in federal funds will be allocated to communities across the country every year for the next decade.

Communities that are undercounted risk missing out on support including housing, transportation, health care, education, and emergency response.
