OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH) —
A simple traffic violation turned into a major drug bust just after midnight on Friday.
A Canadian County Sheriff's deputy stopped a silver 2015 Chevrolet Malibu and seized 174 lbs. of marijuana.
The officer pulled the vehicle over for driving eight miles over the 70 MPH speed limit. Police say the deputy detected a strong odor of marijuana upon approaching the vehicle.
The car was reportedly headed eastbound along I-40 near the 128 mile marker.
Demario Calvin, 27, Tonay Duncan, 22, and Vince Johnson, 34, were taken into custody and booked on a trafficking in marijuana, and conspiracy, complaint.
The three occupants of the car are all from the Greenville, Mississippi, area.
Calvin, the driver of the vehicle, and the two others remain in Canadian County Jail with their bail set at $50,000 each.
