Stores are almost ready to open for Black Friday, and some are planning to open before the turkey is even off the table.

If you're planning to head to the mall or stores this Thanksgiving, FOX 25 has your "Black Friday Survival Guide."

  • Make a budget, and stick to it. Do this before you go to the store.

"Decide who you want to buy gifts for, how many people are you going to have to buy gifts, and then make a budget, and when you get to the store stick with the budget," said Mark Rose, an investment adviser with Retirement Solutions.

  • Use your mobile device as a tool. Decide which stores you plan to visit, and download the store's app.

"Download the apps to the stores that you're going to be shopping at because a lot of times they'll send discounts and coupon codes straight to your app," said Rose.

  • Ask around. Talk to employees and ask them how long deals will stick around. Also spark up conversations with other shoppers.

"Find out where they're going, or what have they found, or other stores that you may want to hit," said Rose.

  • Finally, use cash instead of credit.

"It's very very easy when we're using credit cards to lose track of how much you're spending, if you have to physically take cash out of your wallet or purse when you're buying something it will help you stay closer to your budget," said Rose.

Stores like Best Buy will open on Thanksgiving. They will open at 5:00 p.m. Thanksgiving.
