A man who is suspected of robbing at least five metro motels at gunpoint has been arrested.

The Oklahoma City Police Department reports that 56-year-old Lawrence "Bootsy" Washington was arrested Oct. 16 on a warrant for robbery with a firearm complaint.

Washington is suspected of robbing at least five metro motels in five days. Last week, police released surveillance from several of those crimes.

Police say the man first struck at approximately 10:20 p.m. Oct. 6 at Studio 6, 4601 SW 3 Street. The man asked the clerk to make change for a $5 bill before pulling a gun and demanding money.

Two days later the man robbed the Super 8 motel near SE Grand and I-35. During the incident, he approached the clerk counter with a pistol and grocery bag.

He then went on to rob a Comfort Inn, 7601 CA Henderson Boulevard, and hours later robbed a motel in Midwest City.

On Wednesday, the man struck again. Police say the suspect entered Howard Johnson's, 400 S. Meridian, and pointed a weapon at the clerk while demanding money. The man then struck the clerk several times in the head with the pistol.
