Edmond Santa Fe kicks off the school year

Thousands of students are heading back to the classroom this week, including those at Edmond Santa Fe High School.

Edmond Santa Fe High School Principal Jason Hayes said the school's goal is to find a path to excellence for each student.

"We've had a lot of success in athletics, academics and the arts," Hayes said.

Malcolm then met with Edmond Public Schools District Athletic Director Mike Nunley as the two looked at the new football stadium at Edmond Santa Fe. The district has decided to build site based stadiums at each school.

"We are hoping it will create a lot more energy and excitement on campus," Nunley said.

The new stadium officially opens September 2.

The Edmond Santa Fe Student Council is beginning the first day by helping welcome students back to school.

The Edmond Santa Fe High School then gave Malcolm a private concert. The band has around 180 kids ranging from freshmen to seniors.

Malcolm even got the chance to surprise his sister on her first day of school at ESF.

The Edmond Santa Fe Student Council Sponsor Shelby Wright says the program helps students connect with each other and develop relationships. The organizations big year-long program is Double Wolf Dare Week which raises money for the community.
