Woody Fest Celebrates 20 years of great music
The Woody Guthrie Folk Festival is this weekend in Okemah, about 80 miles east of OKC on I-40. This will be the 20th incarnation of the festival, which began in 1998. This year's festival is especially noteworthy because of the participation of the Guthrie Family, which will include Woody's son Arlo Guthrie.
Today we welcomed festival organizer Greg Johnson and Musician Kierston White. Greg told us a few facts about the festival, and Kierston treated us to one her tunes: "Soft Shoulders." Kierston will be performing on Friday, July 14 at 3PM at The Brick Bar.
The Festival begins on Wednesday July 12, and runs through Sunday July. MOST, but not all, of the festival is free to the public.
