OKC approves health clinic in parking garage
It's not something you'd normally see inside a parking garage - a doctor's office.
Oklahoma City approved a 2,000 square foot health clinic on the ground floor of the new parking garage in the Arts District next to City Hall. The clinic, which cost the city $1.3 million, will provide free healthcare for city employees on their health plan and their families.
The clinic is run by a Tulsa-based company, and will house one physician and two medical assistants. All costs would be covered, including generic prescriptions.
The city says by getting employees to use the clinic as opposed to their own doctors, they can cut medical costs by 20 percent by the end of 2017.
The clinic is set to open in January. The city is still in process of explaining the clinic to its employees, but hope to have at least 50 percent of their workforce using the clinic within the next 3 years.
