Oklahoma Severe Weather Awareness Week: How to keep you and your family safe

Severe Weather Awareness Expo! Saturday, Noon-4 PM at Penn Square Mall

It's Severe Weather Awareness Week here in our great state! The FOX 25 Weather Team will be getting you prepped for the spring season at The Severe Weather Awareness Expo this Saturday, Noon to 4 PM at Penn Square Mall. Whether you can make it or not, please review the Facebook Live videos and other info below. Now is the time to plan, prepare, and practice!

Our first topic covers finding the tornado safe spot in your home or apartment, and what to do if you live in a mobile home. We also discuss getting your shelters prepped and building an emergency supply kit: Home Safety Plan & Emergency Kit Prep

Next, we go over what to do if you're caught outside during severe weather or being chased by a tornado, and why you need multiple ways to receive weather alerts, watches, and warnings: Outdoor Severe Weather Safety & Weather Alerts

Here's how to build an emergency kit for your shelter (this is also a good time to clean it out!), and our other severe weather hazards: wind, hail, & flooding.

In our last installment here, we recap how to keep your family safe with a home safety plan and why it's so important to practice throughout the spring season.
