If there was any doubt that its always football season in Oklahoma the 43,000 that attended Oklahoma's spring football game should end the debate. It was the largest crowd for a spring game during the Bob Stoops era and remember unlike some other spring games around the country Oklahoma's spring game is not free admission.
What the fans saw was a game dominated by some newcomers and lesser known players. For instance, starting quarterback Trevor Knight did play but it was Texas Tech transfer Baker Mayfield who had the best day. Mayfield was 9-9 for 125 yards and two touchdown passes.
With running backs Brennan Clay, Roy Finch and Damien Williams no longer around the Sooners are looking for backs. Sophomore Daniel Brooks turned in a nice game with 57 yards and eight carries but this is a position that will be decided in the fall. Sophomore's Alex Ross and Keith Ford have had good spring's and the five star recruit Joe Mixon is expected to be in the mix.
The defense made plays as well with tackle Jordan Wade grabbing an interception while Eric Striker had back to back sacks to begin the second half.
If you care about final scores the White beat the Red 28-13.
