For the second straight season Oklahoma had to fight to beat Texas Arlington in men's basketball. Last season the Sooners squeaked by the Mavericks 63-59. Tuesday night the Sooners won 91-89 in Norman.
Cameron Clark led the Sooners with 31 points while Buddy Hield was next with 19 and Ryan Spangler added 16 points and eight rebounds. Sooner point guard Jordan Woodard had 12 assists and just one turnover in 36 minutes of action.
But OU could never shake the Mavericks, who got 30 points from Reger Dowell. Dowell is in his first season of action for UTA after transferring in from Oklahoma State. UTA had a shot to tie the game in the closing seconds but Brandon Edwards missed a wide open 16 footer at the buzzer.
Oklahoma is now 10-1 on the season with the one loss being to Michigan State.
